Toyota has launched a new 141kW hot hatch Corolla into the under $40,000 small hatchback market.
The Toyota Corolla Sportivo will go on sale on May 26 at a recommended retail price of $29,990.*
It is the only hatchback in this segment to exceed the 100 horsepower/litre barrier and the first Corolla in Australia with a six-speed transmission.
The Corolla Sportivo has Toyota's state-of-the-art 1.8-litre 2ZZ-GE engine with intelligent variable valve timing and variable lift.
The engine helps the Corolla Sportivo achieve the highest specific power output in its segment.

The 2ZZ-GE engine delivers 141kW of power at 7800rpm and 180Nm of torque at 6800rpm.
It is matched to a close-ratio six-speed transmission.
Sportivo's chassis package includes a unique sports suspension calibration and a new, larger brake package - with ABS, electronic brake force distribution and Brake Assist.
The 1224 kilogram Corolla Sportivo can accelerate 0-100km/h in 8.4 seconds.
Five-door Corolla Sportivo has a body kit consisting of front spoiler, side skirts and rear deck spoiler.
It has 10-spoke alloy wheels with high-performance tyres and is offered in a range of five exterior colours.
Exclusive interior features include full leather seat trim.
It also has a leather-bound steering wheel, leather and chrome sports gear lever, Optitron instruments and silver centre cluster.
The 3-in-1 silver faced audio unit includes AM/FM electronic touch-tune radio, full-logic tape deck and a 6-CD in dash multi-changer matched to a 6 speaker system.
Factory fitted climate controlled air conditioning is standard equipment.
