Nissan has previewed the all-new Maxima sedan at the Sydney Motor Show.

Scheduled to go on sale in late 2003, Australia's new Maxima will introduce a stunning new look and a sensational list of interior appointments.

Concealed beneath its rakish bonnet a powerful 3.5-litre V6 engine - based on the same high-output engine found in the stunning 350Z Coupe and new Roadster - provides the new Maxima with remarkable performance.

Modern luxury best describes the new Maxima, with its combination of a powerful but refined V6, elegant exterior design and sumptuous interior.

The styling of the new Maxima gives an impression of strength and stability by combining a crouching stance with a rearward cabin design.

The beautifully balanced exterior creates a sense of dynamism while hinting at the exceptional roominess and comfort found inside.

Premium-quality materials used throughout the interior project a sense of calm composure.

An impression of quality is imbued by looking at, touching and using the interior appointments, all of which combine to create an elegant cabin befitting a luxury sedan.

The sumptuous sofa-like seats with their distinctive graceful shape help create an atmosphere of sophistication and comfort. The unique centre console, finished in wood grain, connects the front and rear space with a gentle arch, encouraging communication between the front and rear seat passengers.

"The imminent arrival of the new Maxima will no doubt bolster sales of our prestige model range," said Nissan Australia's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Leon Daphne.

Nissan will announce full details of the Maxima range closer to launch.
