The first Australian appearance of the next generation Corolla heads a big list of new Toyotas bound for this years Sydney Motor Show.
Toyota will give show-goers a preview of the new five-door Corolla and an all-new lifestyle wagon model before their Australian market launch in December.
The Corollas completely new design features greater interior space thanks to a longer wheelbase and increased height.
The car will also boast improved performance from a new VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing intelligent) 1.8 litre Twin Cam Multi-valve engine.
The engine produces 100kW with improved fuel economy and cleaner exhaust emissions.
The Corolla will feature a number of safety improvements including Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) for greater stability during braking and Brake Assist (BA) which automatically increases braking effort if it detects insufficient force on the brake pedal while emergency braking is in progress.
The Sydney Motor Show will also mark the debut of a revised and enhanced Avalon big car range.
The new Avalons will feature technical improvements, revised exterior and interior trims, and improved specification lists for all model grades.
Toyotas commercial vehicle line-up will be strengthened with the release at the motorshow of an upgraded HiLux range.
It will be the first public appearance of HiLuxs all-new v-shaped grille and contoured, raised bonnet, which gives the truck a sporty forceful appearance. The Sydney Motor Show will also mark the retail launch of the long-awaited Prius hybrid engined sedan. The Prius features the ground-breaking Toyota Hybrid System (THS) which allows the vehicle to seamlessly switch between using mainly petrol engine power, electric power or a combination of both. It uses approximately half the petrol of a similar sized conventional car and emits approximately half the carbon dioxide of a similar sized vehicle on a typical city drive cycle. Emissions of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and oxides of nitrogen are eight percent or less of ADR requirements.
Taking the Prius concept a step further, Toyota will display the worlds first volume-production four-wheel drive hybrid.
The Toyota Tarago Hybrid seven seat family wagon combines petrol and electric drive for the front wheels with electric drive for the rear wheels.
The design slashes greenhouse emissions compared with a conventional family wagon and provides greater on-road versatility.
Toyota will also display its Kluger sports-utility vehicle a mid-sized four-wheel drive wagon based on the next generation Camry platform.
The Kluger has a 3.0-litre, VVT-I-equipped DOHC, 24-valve, V6 engine mated to a viscous coupled constant four-wheel-drive system for greater on-road stability and off-road traction.
The final attraction will be Toyotas first-ever Formula One car.
The V10-engined racer has been undergoing an intensive development program in Europe in preparation for the companys F1 competition debut at next years Australian Grand Prix.
