Toyota Australia has launched its striking motorsport-inspired Camry GTP enhancement.

The Camry GTP was first previewed at the Melbourne International Motor Show to coincide with Touring Series' release, where it was widely acclaimed.

The Camry GTP enhancement kit was developed by Toyota Conversions, Accessories and Motorsports department (T-CAM) to increase the appeal of Camry, particularly Touring Series, with driving and motor racing enthusiasts.

Its name reflects Camry V6's class victory in the 1998 Australian GT-Production series.

The Camry GTP body kit consists of a sports mesh radiator grille, and race styled front bumper extension plus side skirts, rear skirts and unique GTP identification decal.

Rear spoiler risers are also available as an option when fitting the Camry GTP body kit to Touring Series.

The spoiler risers, which are in the same style as Toyota's GT-Four Celica, raise the height of Touring Series' original equipment rear spoiler by 50mm, and increase the spoiler angle, to enhance the racing look and add downforce.

Bold GTP decals are included with the spoiler risers. Camry GTP kits ordered for other Camry and Vienta models can be further optioned with a Toyota Genuine Accessory rear spoiler.

The Camry GTP body kit is injection moulded in durable polyurethane. This offers quality and durability advantages over traditional aftermarket fiberglass body kits by providing consistency in shape, high resistance to damage and a high-grade surface finish for painting, to maintain an integrated over-all look. The kit's side skirts are also reinforced during the moulding process to ensure strength and durability.

Both 16" and 17" diameter, aggressively styled six-spoke alloy wheels are available to complement the Camry GTP body kit as replacements for the standard 15" alloy wheels and tyres on the Touring Series. They can also be fitted to all other Camry and Vienta models.

The Camry GTP body kit and the optional alloy wheels have been subjected to rigorous testing to both Toyota's high internal standards and to the relevant Australian Design Rules, not often a feature of the competing aftermarket parts.

To continue the racing feel into the interior, Toyota has available a carbon-fibre dash kit. Unlike some dash kits, the Toyota unit is made from authentic carbon-fibre, the same light weight material used in racecar interior components.

The Camry GTP carbon-fibre dash kit is made specifically to suit Camry and Vienta.

A Camry GTP sports floor mat set is also available, embroidered with the Camry GTP insignia.

Camry GTP owners can also further customise the interior of models other than Touring Series by adding the leather gear knob and black shift boot that is fitted standard to Touring Series.

Toyota Australia's Rory Macdougall said the new Camry GTP pack adds a racing flavour, particularly to Camry Touring Series but also to any other Camry model.

"The Camry Touring Series is developed with the enthusiast driver in mind and provides a great opportunity for a motorsport-style enhancement," Mr Macdougall said.

"The Camry GTP accessories will broaden Touring Series' market appeal to include, not only die-hard driving enthusiasts but motor racing fans as well.

"The Camry GTP wheels and body kit also makes any standard model Camry or Vienta look even better on the street.

"Toyota was overwhelmed by the response to the TTE Rallye Corolla Liftback enhancements, so Camry was the next logical project."
