Lukey – the famous performance exhaust brand with more than 40 years of race-bred heritage – is back with a vengeance.

Upgraded and rebranded, the new Lukey Performance Exhaust range is supported by a dynamic advertising and marketing campaign centred around the line “If it Growls – It’s a Lukey”.

In addition to an intensive advertising campaign, the Lukey name will have a strong presence throughout the V8 Supercars Shell Championship Series with Lukey branding appearing on the Monroe Safety Car.

According to Phil Mason, Director of Aftermarket Sales and Marketing for Tenneco Automotive, the Shell Championship Series is “the perfect place to champion the Lukey name”.

“The biggest thing going for us when we decided to bring the Lukey name back to the performance exhaust market was the heritage of the brand,” said Phil.

“There is more than 45 years of motor racing history behind Lukey and, although it certainly has its roots amongst the older driver, we have found that the brand has very strong appeal across all age groups in the market.”

The Lukey name can be traced back to Len Lukey who opened his first factory in Cheltenham, Victoria in the early 1950s and has a corner of the famous Phillip Island racetrack – Lukey Heights – named in his honour.

The modern Lukey Performance Exhaust range incorporates the heritage of the Lukey name with the latest in technology and research to create a line up of truly special exhaust products:

  • Lukey Ultra Flo – the ultimate performance muffler, with a straight-through design for maximum flow and power;
  • Lukey Turbo – one of the most popular muffler designs in the world with patented flow directors for maximum performance;
  • Lukey Race – with continuous Roving Fibreglass (CRF) for maximum sound control and fully externally welded, the Lukey Race is built to the highest standards;
  • Lukey Original – packed with high density fibreglass and the firm favourite with its unmistakable throaty growl;
  • Lukey Hot Dogs – designed straight-through for maximum flow. With a compact design for tight ground clearance, Lukey Hot Dogs have a moderate sound control suited to race use;
  • Lukey Headers – now with a high-temperature, heat resistant black coating and able to increase the power of a car by 10-25%. Each header is 100% leak tested to ensure welds are leak free;
  • Lukey Super Converters – for superior performance and efficiency and reduced emissions;
  • And Lukey Stainless Steel Exhaust Tips – a comprehensive range of quality tips to add the finishing touch to virtually any vehicle.

“We tested the market at the recent Summernats in Canberra and had an overwhelmingly positive response from car enthusiasts, the majority of whom are looking for both great performance and a great sound,” said Phil.

“We believe that the new range of Lukey Performance Exhausts and Headers will be an instant hit with our target market, both young and old.”

Lukey Performance Exhausts and Lukey Performance Headers are brands of Tenneco Automotive, the world’s largest producer and marketer of ride control and exhausts systems and products. Tenneco Automotive manufactures products under the Monroe, Walker and Lukey brands at its facilities in Clovelly Park and O’Sullivan’s Beach, Adelaide.
