  • No 1 manufacturer for convertible cars in the UK
  • 206 CC and 307 CC two of Australia’s best selling convertibles

Peugeot was the first company to launch a car with a metal folding roof back in 1934. Today it is the number one choice for UK convertible car buyers in 2005 with total sales year to date of 8838 vehicles.

In 1934 Peugeot changed the face of the convertible car market with the first car with an electric folding roof, the Peugeot 401 Eclipse. Then in January 2001 with the launch of the Peugeot 206 CC, it changed the convertible car market forever.

No longer were the added safety, security and durability of a metal folding roof the preserve of expensive luxury sports cars. The technology was now available to everyone.

Since its launch in 2001 the 206 CC has been the top selling convertible car with a metal folding roof in the UK with total sales of 39,734 vehicles.

The success of the design of the 206 CC, however, evolved further in 2003 with the introduction of the 307 CC.

Since its launch in 2003 the 307 CC has dominated the UK’s medium size electric folding roof, convertible car sector. A total of 12,391 vehicles have been sold since launch and in the first eight months of 2005, over 4433 vehicles have been sold.

In Australia, Peugeot’s range of convertible cars starts at only $32,990 for the 206 CC 1.6 litre model and the larger 307 CC is priced from just $49,900. Here, as in the UK, these models have enjoyed remarkable success, pioneering the growing segment of ‘hard-topped’ convertibles in this country. One out of every three convertibles sold in the ‘Sports’ passenger car segment is indeed a Peugeot ‘CC’ model.
