Melbourne - The Chrysler Group achieved sales of 812 units last month to post
its best September performance in nine years and seventh month of consecutive
growth according to official VFACTS figures.
The record monthly result represents an increase of 29 per cent over
September 2005, driving year-to-date Group sales to 6,642, up 20 per cent over
last year.
The outstanding success that the Group has enjoyed this year is largely
attributed to the dynamic portfolio of new vehicles that have arrived during the
past 12 months. Uniquely styled products such as the Chrysler 300C, the
seven-seat Jeep Commander and the Dodge Caliber are clearly striking a chord
with new customers.
For Chrysler the 300C continued to drive brand sales. Registrations of 177
for the month took year-to-date 300C sales to 1,439 ensuring that the bold sedan
retained its leadership in the upper large under $100,000 segment.
Year-to-date Chrysler sales of 2,837 increased 74 per cent over 2005.
Dodge continued its successful debut with the crossover Caliber hatch
achieving another strong month with 67 registrations.
“The Dodge Caliber is showing great momentum in the short time it has been
available,” said Brad Fitzsimmons, national sales manager, Chrysler Group
Australia.
“We’re selling all that we can get our hands on and when supply frees up we
will sell even more,” he said.
For Jeep the seven-seat Commander continued to attract new customers to the
brand with 41 deliveries. And the iconic Wrangler further proved its unstoppable
popularity with its fourth straight month of 100 plus registrations (111
registrations). These strong performances helped take year-to-date Jeep sales to
3,805, just 3 per cent shy of the brand’s 2005 performance, an outstanding
result at a time when Australia’s SUV segment is down more than 10 per cent
year-to-date.
“It’s all about the products and our range is really hitting the spot with
customers,” said Fitzsimmons. “The future bodes well for a strong fourth quarter
and beyond.”
