Hyundai announced today that its crucial new five-door hatchback will be known
as the Hyundai i30 when it makes its Australian debut in October.
While the i30 shares the same platform as the newly-introduced Elantra sedan,
it is an entirely separate development, designed to spearhead Hyundai’s attack
on the competitive small hatch market. As a result, i30 has been closely
benchmarked against its competitors, and the i30 name has been chosen to reflect
the car’s European styling and its all-round intelligent design.
“Shaped in our German styling studio, the new i30 will combine highly
contemporary design with Hyundai’s outstanding quality and value”, said Kevin
McCann, Hyundai’s Sales and Marketing Director. “It’s going to surprise everyone
– not least our competitors.”
Hyundai’s focus on quality and durability, which has seen the brand rise to
the top of numerous customer surveys worldwide, are reflected in i30’s intensive
development and testing programme. Like all new Hyundai models, the i30 has
undergone hot weather testing in Australia as part of a rigorous local proving
process, in the run up to its local launch in October.
