Mazda Australia has increased its market share by an impressive 0.59 percentage points year-to-date, selling just over 6,000 new vehicles in July.
According to VFACTS figures released yesterday, year-to-date Mazda remains the country’s number one full-line vehicle importer with 44,627 new vehicles sold so far this year. That equates to an 8.4 percent share in the Australian new car market.
Mazda’s market share for the month of July was equally as impressive at 8.0 percent. That’s 0.25 percentage points up on the same month last year.
It was a big month for the New Generation Mazda3. Joining the company’s impressive Mazda3 line-up was the more refined and more economical Mazda3 MPS turbocharged hot hatch. Mazda sold 2,785 Mazda3s in July.
Year-to-date Mazda3 sales are up 3.4 percent and the sporty and compact new generation small car has a 17.7 percent share in the Small <40K segment.
The stylish Mazda6 medium car remains the top-selling import in the Medium <60K segment. More than 5,000 new Mazda6s have found homes in Australian garages this year.
Compared with 2008 figures, sales of the iconic Mazda RX-8 rotary-powered sports coupe are up 9.9 percent year-to-date.
Mazda Australia managing director Doug Dickson said: “After having a bumper record month in June it was pleasing to see Mazda maintain momentum in July with just over 6,000 sales.
“I am pleased to report that Mazda is well on track to achieving its 2009 sales forecast of 72,000.”
