Mercedes-Benz has signalled its determination to become a major force in the market with a landmark agreement with Whitehorse Trucks Centres. From this month, the Whitehorse Truck Centre at Dandenong will become the Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner sales and service outlet for Melbourne’s southeastern suburbs and Gippsland.
The state-of-the-art dealership, which was only opened in September 1999, is located on five acres at 67-71 Princes Highway, Dandenong. Steve Abrahamson, Senior Manager of Sales and Marketing for Mercedes-Benz Heavy/Medium Trucks, said the move was "a signal of our intent to the rest of the industry". "We are very serious about setting our targets and standards as high as possible, which is why we are so pleased to welcome Whitehorse to the Mercedes-Benz family," said Steve. "Whitehorse Truck Centres have a tremendous reputation in the industry as very high achievers with an exemplary approach to business. They are just the sort of people we want representing our trucks in the marketplace," he said. "For us, this is just the beginning. We are committed to growing our business and we are determined to have the best partners to help us do that." The new Whitehorse Truck Centre features a showroom, an extensive spares store and a large service department with 23 workshop bays, including a full-length B-double service pit. Kelvin Griffith, Chairman of Whitehorse Truck Centres, said the arrival of the DaimlerChrysler brands presented an exciting shift in focus for the company. "We have been in business for 45 years and have been specialising in trucks since the early 1970’s, " said Kelvin. "The Mercedes-Benz range of vehicles represents great quality and technological excellence and, particularly with the release of the new FleetStar series, fantastic whole-of-life value for operators," he said. "We are very excited to be a part of what is happening at DaimlerChrysler." The Whitehorse Truck Centre at Dandenong joins 28 other dealers in the national Mercedes-Benz/Freightliner heavy truck network.
