The Saab Automobile web site www.saab.com gained the Gold award for the Best Brand Marketing Web Site. Saab received the award at the world's largest and most important Internet marketing and advertising conference - \@d:tech - in San Francisco in the beginning of May.
\@d:tech (http://www.ad-tech.com) is one of a series of conferences arranged since 1996 by eMarkets World of Richmond, Virginia, USA. At the latest conference in San Francisco held on 3 - 5 May, a jury consisting of experts in this field selected the three best web sites in a number of different categories. The Saab web site received prizes in four categories. In addition to Gold for the Best Brand Marketing Web Site, Saab also received two silver awards - one for the Auto category, and one for the Direct Marketing Web Site. Saab also received a Bronze for Best Overall Creative Design. In addition to being compared to one another, the web site entries were also judged by the jury against the industry as a whole.
"Saab aims to be a progressive global brand. This is obviously a welcome confirmation that we are perceived as being at the leading edge of branding on the web," says Mikael Eliasson, Brand Director at Saab Automobile.
"Our ambition is to be a leader in digital one-to-one marketing - a tool which is particularly well suited for a niche brand such as Saab. The launch concept for the Saab 9-5 Wagon on the web is one of the most advanced multi-stage programs in digital direct marketing ever made, and it has also been commercially very successful," says Lars Menzing, who is responsible for the Internet at Saab.
The work of developing the Saab web site in accordance with the overall Saab brand strategy has been in progress for two years. The objective has been to significantly enhance awareness of the Saab brand on all markets around the world. By disseminating consistent and unvarying information on the brand, customers and others will always be able to recognize Saab, regardless of where in the world they are living or travelling. The Saab web site has been developed in cooperation with Large Medium Interactive, based in Stockholm, Sweden.
