Suzuki's VL800 - Built For Cruising

With rich, deep black paintwork, gleaming chrome and a thumping 805cc V-twin engine, Suzuki’s all-new VL800 Volusia is the perfect machine for hitting the open road or just cruising around town.

The Suzuki VL800 offers a unique blend of the classic cruiser image - tough rigid tail styling, deep fenders and a fat 16-litre fuel tank - mixed with the modern technology that you would come to expect from the Suzuki name.

"With low slung styling, lots of chrome and great looks, the VL800 is definitely a head turner," Perry Morison, Suzuki Australia’s General Manager for Motorcycles says.

"It’s easy to ride in all environments and offers the rider the benefits and reliability of a modern Suzuki motorcycle, coupled with that timeless cruiser appearance and character."

Suzuki’s latest cruiser is named after the region considered the mecca for cruiser riders the world over – Volusia County, Florida, USA.

The liquid-cooled SOHC, four-valve per cylinder V-twin features a broad, flat powerband that offers strong response even at low rpm.

One of the hallmarks of the V-twin is its effortless low-down grunt. The VL800 produces more torque below 5000 rpm than any Suzuki cruiser under 1400cc ever built, with peak torque reached at just 2,500 rpm.

And while a staggered dual exhaust system ensures a throaty rumble from the cruiser that is sure to please any V-twin enthusiast, the VL800 is also fitted with Suzuki’s PAIR (Pulsed-Secondary AIR-injection) system for reduced emissions.

With the longest wheelbase in its class, the Suzuki VL800 boasts the additional comfort of the latest progressive-linkage monoshock rear suspension while maintaining the classic hard-tail cruiser look.

Taking care of the bumps up front are inverted telescopic, oil damped forks, while braking on this big new Suzuki cruiser is via a twin-piston caliper front disc brake and rear drum brake.

The rider’s view from the Suzuki VL800’s wide, leather-grain patterned seat is commanding, while the combination of low 700mm seat height, handlebar shape, forward-mounted footpegs and foot controls ensures total rider comfort.

"The Suzuki VL800 is a motorcycle that will appeal particularly to those who like the freedom and care-free image that riding a cruiser provides." Perry Morison says.

A range of genuine Suzuki accessories is available for the VL800, including leather saddlebags, a windscreen, chrome front and rear fender trim, a rear rack, engine accessory bars and a rear seat rest.

The all-new Suzuki VL800 Volusia is available in glistening pearl black, carries a two-year unlimited kilometre warranty and is now on sale at a suggested retail price of $11,490 including GST, plus on-road costs.
