The mobile office proves to be of particular interest to those working in media production and architects
The "Mobile Black Office" concept vehicle unveiled to the public at the Caravan Salon, in Düsseldorf this year, proved to be a great success with the visitors to the show. The mobile office, which is based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter boasts a vast amount of space with conference workstations for up to four people, particularly attracted the attention of those involved in media production, such as film teams, architects and self-employed engineers.
The study was designed with precisely these professions in mind, as well as for designers, construction site managers and consultants. Conferences can now be held with the greatest of ease thanks to the comfortable seats and a multifunctional table. EDP and multimedia equipment, attractive materials and a pioneering lighting concept all help to provide the very latest in office comfort. The vehicle is equipped with a total of three laptops, two 15" monitors and a beamer with an 80 x 80 cm retractable projector screen. The back-office area can be partitioned off with a screen and contains a fold-down bunk for the vehicle occupants to relax, while still offering enough room for the transport of leisure equipment such as mountain bikes. The compact catering facilities include a refrigerator, a sink, a microwave and a coffee/tea and espresso machine.
The basic vehicle for the "Black Office" is a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, which has a wheelbase measuring 3550mm and a max. gross vehicle weight of 3.5 tons.
"A study such as this just goes to show how versatile our Sprinter product really is", said Frank LaSerra, Senior Executive Mercedes-Benz Light Commercial Vehicles.
"We have seen a number of Body Manufacturers in Australia take to the Sprinter Range to base their Motorhomes and Speciality Transport vehicles since its launch here in 1998. Not only is the Sprinter a very safe, economical and reliable vehicle the very strict build quality adapted by our factories enables the Body Builders to pre-fabricate major components ready for inclusion their next vehicle conversion. This being the case some of the more major companies are exclusively utilising the Sprinter as well as our other products for their base vehicles", he continued.
"An example such as the "Black Office" will do well to start the thought process here and I am sure before long we will see an Australian example hitting the streets", he concluded.
